Electro Batch #5

Electro dancefloor, ya?

-M

Puppies (Blende Remix) - Dolby Anol
Really sick Electro track, crazy sounds and whatnot.

Threnody (Capt and Cooked Edit) - SebastiAn
The most controversial track of 2010, and yes we can most certainly declare that this early, was remixed and definitely improved.

токамак - Nightbreaker
Super heavy Electro. Our buddy in London by the name of Pedro will be super happy about this one.

Hooligans (Noisia Remix) - Don Diablo & Example
Reminiscent of that Mstrkrft sound we all used to love, but a bit heavier.

The Way We Like It (Tommie Sunshine Edit) - Tim Healey vs. Felguk
This is pretty crazy, and yet another incredibly heavy track, the bass is huge.

Bubble Bath - The Swiss
This is basically a straight up Disco track. Jumpman will be all over this. I normally don't really go for all this sort of thing, but this track just really got to me.

Nerve (Analyzer Remix) - Boys Noize
This song's all about the sound they made. They're just showing it off, pretty much. It's a cool sound.

Maps (Elite Force Re-Fix) - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Square waves FTW

White Feather (Bang Gang Black Leather Remix) - Wolfmother
Pretty sick, blahdy blah.

Eyes on Crysteena (CJ Milli Mix) - Mille & Blue Foundation
The most poppy track of the bunch.

Drop It Like It's Hot

What's a buildup without an epic drop? Eh? Can I get a witness? This batch of some of the most awesome drops goes out to the fuckin G, Peter Cameron. Also, keep in mind this is by no means a definitive list of the best drops or whatever, just a list I put together with a bunch of honorable mentions if you will. Also, every track is a Golden Banana, that's sort of why they're on this list. In other words, if there ever was a time to grab the zip file at the bottom, now's it, I promise every track here is worth it.

-M

Get Off (Original Mix) - Sharooz
Quite possibly the most epic electro drop ever. This track is famous for it.

Under the Water (Dada Life Remix) - Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike
My personal favorite drop at the moment. Just like, wow.

Suddenly (Dave Darell Remix) - BT
The most triumphant drop on this list.

Muzik (Bingo Players Remix) - Villanord
Definitely my favorite drop by these guys, it just really gets me every time.

Atlantic (Original Mix) - Arias
Definitely one of the best Progressive drops out there. It's just perfect, you don't expect it at all either.

Panzershreck (Original Mix) - PSEUDO-LICIOUS
Two just simply amazing drops. The first is Tech-licious, the second Electro-licious. This is one of my 'secret DJ weapons' if you will.

Set It Off (Ian Carey Remix) - Dennis Christopher
My favorite Organ House drop. Super triumphant as well, that's a quality I really like in House music.

Love Is Gone (Fred Rister & Joachim Garraud Remix) - David Guetta
This is the full version, lots of peeps have the Radio Edit. This massive Electro drop is famous.

So Dance (Club Mix) - Spencer & Hill
The track that made me fall in love with these Krauts, mostly because of the drop.

Everybody (Dabruck & Klein Remix) - Rudenko
Such an interesting, unexpected drop. Not crazy or epic or anything, you'll just be like, ooooooh.

Motherfucking Bass (Popof Remix 1) - DJ Rush
You should all know this one. This drop made me like Techno, or rather understand it.

Metalworld (Son Of A Beat Remix) - Forza
Another Techno drop that just gets me every single time. We've already raved on this blog about how this drop is amazing, and this would be the 3rd time this track has been posted.

Nobody Gets Out Alive! - Le Castle Vania
Been obsessed with this one as well. It's like Electro Metal, and makes me want to thrash around like crazy every time I hear it.

Massive Joy (Thomas Gold Remix) - Carlos Russo
This drop is just perfect. It's not the hardest or craziest or anything like that, it's just so perfect and right. You'll understand. So beautiful.

Broken String - Tek-One
I mean, the purpose of most Dubstep tracks is to just have the craziest awesome drop. I could add like 20+ tracks to this post if I was including Dubstep. However, this drop is just way too good to not be included. The best Dubstep drop. Period.

Drop It Like It's Hot Zipped

BONUS:
Suddenly (Dave Darell Vocal Mix) - BT
This is the full version. Finally. Above is only the radio edit. This is definitely one of the best House tracks ever made.

Best Buildups

Somebody requested a best drops post, so in order to prepare for M's post on that, I decided to do a best buildups post. You gotta remember that a lot of the best drops also have best buildups, so I tried not to overlap. I realize this list doesn't include everything, but it really would be hard to think of all of those. These are some that came to mind in no particular order, these are also in no way new.

So it's like, damn that girl's fine, and I wanna dance with her but I like needs somethin to gets it started. I gots to put on those phat beats you know what i'm s ayin. It's like sometimes you walkin into the room and turnin heads just ain't enough, you gotta make everybdy start feelin it. Just like carry a cd with some of these beats on you at all times to throw shit down.

-J

Wake up by Les Petits Pilous, The buildup in song is epic as hell, but for some reason I was never satisfied with the drop, but I still like the song.

Zdaright by Digitalism I would put magnets and their remix of technologic in the same boat.

So Haunted (Knightlife's sun soaked Remix) by Cut Copy, this was my jam for a bit.

Je Veux Te Voir by Yelle, How couldn't a song about Cuzinier's small dick not have an epic buildup.

Love to edit by Crookers, who wouldn't expect this on here.

I Want your soul (Fake Blood Remix) by Armand Van Helden, I wouldn't call this an epic buildup, but it's just so fucking cool.

The Things you say (Dirty South Remix) by Cicada, Again not the most epic, but that voice is so cool and eerie it puts everybody in awe.

P.O.V. (Steve Angello Remix) by Kim Fai

Don't Think About Me (Miles Dyson Remix) by Lazy Rich, This song is all about the second buildup. Me and my boy tony were sitting in his room and we heard this and just were like damn this shit's hot. This gets it started.

Lovelight (Soulwax Ravelight Remix) by Robbie Williams, this took a while but it grew on me hardcore.

Bonus:

I'm sorry for posting our own shit, but 1. as we really were very influenced by the soulwax remix above and 2. I'm very proud of this buildup, in fact it's basically the whole purpose of the song.

Crazy Disco (Bastille Remix) by JELO and Adam K.

Yo, any peeps got any additions?
Go Nuts, Go Ape Shit.

All this shit zipped.

Minimal Batch #6

-M

Only This Moment (Original Mix) - Moonbeam (Golden Banana)
Such a pretty Techno track, and still playable for raves. Like, such a great hook, I'm pretty obsessed.

I Like This Sound (Original Mix) - Youri Donatz & Franky Rizardo
Ravey as hell, and great break right before the drop. You'll love this one.

Che Flute (Chaosz Minimal Remix) - Steve Angello
Really great track, like, really great.

Just a Spoonful - Voodeux
That beautiful style that's like a mix of Tech and Deep House. Really pretty track.

Notations (Rafael Noronha, Re Dupre Remix) - Gui Boratto
I stand by my statement that Techno is Trance for bad asses. Another pretty track.

Star Drumz (Original Mix) - Rene Kuppens
Can't get more minimal than just drums, right? He pulls it off.

I Love London (Femme En Fourrure Remix) - Crystal Fighters
Indie Techno, this got a ton of blog love.

Don't Say A Word (Christian Smith Remix) - Sharam
I really love the vocals on this, especially when I saw the original live and the vocalist was there. So dope.

Whispers In The Dark (Ramon Tapia Remix) - Shades Of Gray
Another Techno meets Deep House track.

BONUS:
MCs Can Kiss (Original) - Uffie
The original Ed Banger hoe bag is back with serious top notch production by Mr. Oizo.

Drum & Bass Batch #2

Ugh I'm so tired. Had a bit of a rough morning, also happened to be the first day of classes. Don't expect good track explanations. I'm actually really big on all of these tracks and recommend em all, but I guess that's the case with any music blog, no? Just know that these are some serious Bananas.

-M

Get Shakey (Matrix & Futurebound) - Ian Carey Project
Like the original a lot, makes me like this remix even more. Well done.

Helium - Engage
It's Tech DnB, and yes it's as awesome as it sounds.

Twerk (Sub Focus Remix) - Basement Jaxx feat. Yo Majesty
All about this bass.

Looking Back - Camo & Crooked
This song is crazy, great production.

Take Me to the Hospital (Sub Focus Remix) - The Prodigy
These drums are atypical to the genre, good for changing things up.

Mindset - Black Sun Empire
Great buildup, great drums.

Lady Gaga Needed to be more Minimal

Bad Display of Romance (Bastille Bootleg) by Lady Gaga Vs. Hardwell

Can't get enough of it? If you need to play some gaga at a party but don't want to let go of your values. This might help you out.

-J

M's additions:

I actually just made a cover of Bad Romance for my friend's web series. He wanted a royalty free version, so I tried to copy the production as best I could. You should all watch this series it's amazing, and the cover I made is right in the beginning.

Electro Batch #4

Erectlo Levorushun!

-M

gIALLO - LBCK (Golden Banana)
A complete and utter ripoff of early SebastiAn. Still, makes you wanna hear it, no? Shit's great.

Narcotics (Valerna Remix) - Knightstalker
There will be a post on these dudes at some point, I had no idea who they were a month or two ago, but every track has been awesome. Crazy ass Electro, great for live.

Ball (Original Mix) - Frederik Olufsen
This is more bigger Electro House, but awesome.

Qui Est Cette Fille (Foul House Remix) - Yelle
One of the better Yelle remixes I've got, really like this one, it's got a buildup reminiscent of Tellier.

Yumegiwa Last Boy - Noelle (Japanese Banana)
That really special brand of Electro /Jpop crossover. God I love it.

Catch The Looks (Dilemn Remix) - Dyebox
Good Electro track, really great synths.

Love Gemma - Catcomplex
More like Space Disco Electro, for those folks that like calmer, more melodic tracks.

Tears Don't Cry - Ricochet Toys (Weird Banana)
Something about this track really appeals to me, but it's one weird ass track.

Yurij - Ishivu (Rotten Banana)
This tracks ok I guess coming back to it. Melodic style. I probably would now not post it but its already in the zip.

15 January 2010

Dubstep Batch #3

So while we're all waiting for J to post his part two with the Benassi remixes, which is I'm sure he'll do at some point, might take another few weeks or something. I'm pretty sure that Jumpman's actually been doing a better job, which is HUGE. Anyways, I've got some grimy Dubstep for you, definitely more boss than Benassi.

Also, big shout out to Oneupmanship for providing a few of these tracks. Unfortunately, looks like he's decided to end the blog, which I'm really sad about, since he's my sole source for DnB. If you're reading this, PLEASE send me DnB.

-M

Last Night In Brooklyn (NumberNin6 Remix) - Innerpartysystem (Golden Banana)
Epic as hell, and huge ass drop. Definitely do not miss this one.

Adachigaharas Theme - Shockone
This track is amazing, you shouldn't miss this one either.

Guided Relaxation Dub - Borgore
Hipsters love irony, right?

Murda Sound - Bar9
Big shout out to Dr. Ianibous Blount for introducing me to this dude. Grimy ass track.

Go (Bar9 Remix) - Kyza
And another.

HEY! (Spinstyles Remix) - Diplo & Laidback Luke
Just a reminder that Dubstep doesn't have to be all distorted and such.

Riverside (Let's Go!) (Breakage Remix) - Sidney Samson Feat. Wizard Sleeve
Another really dope track without distortion.

Resonate (Original Mix) - Vaski
Really great job with the drums on this track.

Who's The Hardest - Eddie K
Not the most unique Dubstep track, but hard hitting nonetheless.

Many Voices - Ganja White Night
Jack Beats? Is that you?

Dark Matter - N-Type
Much calmer track.

Panic Attack - Modified Noise
Yeah, it's Dubstep. I'm sick of taglining these.

Benassi for the Come Back

This picture made my day

MASSIVE POST! SECTION YOU MIGHT WANT TO SKIP:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I havn't posted for months and months. I really am a terrible person, but M's been holding down the fort much better then I could ever possibly do. So let's all give a round of applause for M. *clap* *clap* *clap* *audience Cheers*

Now that we got through that, I'm back in order to liven things up a little bit. Things have been getting a bit stale like corn flakes left out for too long.

In my time of absence I have what one might say, found myself. I am a new different man. More sophisticated and just plain cooler (this has been said by my many admirers). So if you weren't reading before, or have gone into a lapse of reading, now is a time to begin or restart. Things are about to get shaken up hardcore.

Because our blog is switching to being an EMO BAND BLOG
When I said I'm a new man, I meant that I came in touch with my emotional side. We live in dark times, and it only makes sense for my hair and soul to match such darkness. I am a creature of the night. Do not try and cheer me up, I am the wretched undertaker of the abyss. The world is such a worthless place; as if Zeus himself had come down and taken a huge dump on all the light in the world. That's where we live.

Just playin. Fuck Emo kids, electro anybody?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you skipped that whole section above, just know, I've returned as a huge boss with a huge collection of Benassi for you all.

He looks likes a fuckin playa in this photo. I like that shirt.

Benny Benassi has been dominating the house scene for quite some time now. His release of Hypnotica was groundbreaking and he created a song that everybody knows, even non EDM music lovers: Satisfaction. That electro bass helped inspire music for years to come.

With his famous remix of public enemy's bring the noise, Benassi broke out of his mold of Hypnotica and found his new pumpkin sound which would come to define his second album Rock 'N' Rave.

I'm dividing this post into two sections: the two Albums Hypnotica/Rock 'N' Rave (today), and Remixes he's done over the years (tomorrow).

I don't have everything that he's done, but god damn I've got quite a bit.

Albums:

Hypnotica
in 320:

What else can be said about Hypnotica that hasn't been said already? Benassi created one of the most famous albums to grace the electronic scene with such songs as Satisfaction, Time, Able to Love, and my personal favorite Love is gonna save us.

If I'm honest however, and here is where I might be a little controversial to some, this album doesn't wow me like his future productions would. In fact I find it stale. Every song sounds the same in many ways except love is gonna save us, hence it's my favorite on the album. I feel as though while there might be slight differences between the other songs, they really are basically the same, with Satisfaction being the pinnacle of that sound which he uses (the only exception to this is his california dreamin remix).

Regardless I do not deny how amazing that sound he found is and applaud him in that sense.

Rock 'N' Rave

Amazing. I love this album so much. Funnily enough when it first came out, I wasn't a huge fan, but one day it just dawned on me. EVERY ELECTRO FAN SHOULD HAVE THIS ALBUM. I don't understand why it got mixed reviews. He basically took the pumpkin sound and improved it.

Some might call me a hypocrite as my problem with hypnotica was how static it is. Rocky 'N' Rave basically uses the same sound every song as well. However, he both hides it better and I think warps the sound just a little bit to give it a different feel. Good thinking Benassi, you've made one of my favorite electronic albums of all time.

Have fun with the Benassi, and get pumped for the remix post tomorrow!

Leger On or Off?

Here's his remix of one of the biggest tracks of the year. Really need to get a copy of this, I tried all day and failed miserably.

Knockout (Sebastien Leger Remix) - Cirez D
Here's another remix he did for Prydz, pretty fucking dope as well.

BONUS:
You Know Why (PH Electro Remix) - Rock Massive
Hey, this one's not cheesy as at all. In fact, it's like a Laidback Luke track with a really dirty Electro bass. Great job.

Also, if you've seen Avatar, read THIS.

ALSO, a few people have been sending me this link. Unfortunately, it's mislabeled and only links to the original track. If you don't have the original, by all means cop it.

The Dutch House Villains

Looks like our bros The Disco Villains decided to try out a new style, which I applaud them for since their tracks were starting to all sound the same and thus they were loosing their appeal. Here's the track, the lead synth still sounds like something more for Electro, but it definitely works by all means. Their raviest track yet, good job.

We Do It Again (Disco Villains Remix) - Sodas & Suds

BONUS:
16 (Apster Remix) - Bassjackers & Jorn
My favorite Dutch track at the moment.

08 January 2010

Minimal Batch #5

La Minimal Techno! Yah?

-M

1UP (Original Mix) - Jordy Lishious
(Golden Banana)
You know the name of this blog. This Tech track samples video game sounds. Win.

Head Trick (Rework) - Santiago & Bushido
Definitely an Electro House track, but would fit in really well in a minimal set.

Paging Doctor Faggot (Y3S PLZ Edit) - Butch + Popof
Great sample, anyone got the original?

Latin Beat (Original Mix) - Chris Vinterra
HUGE bass on this Tech House track. Would go over really well at a rave.

The More I Do (Thomas Fehlmann Mix) - The Field
A reminder that not all Techno is minimal and ravey, this one is beautiful.

Italian Fireflies (Eskimo Twins Remix) - Black Strobe
Really cool Techno track.

Temptation (Tone 15 Remix) - DJ Fronter
Typical minimal Techno track.

Disco Monster (Seymour Bits' Subsonic Monster) - Le Le
Really weird but awesome Techno track. Maybe not minimal, but definitely Techno.

Work It Out (Joeysuki Remix) - Tim Benjamin & Mell Tierra
The bassline leaves a little to be desired, but a cool Tech House track nonetheless.

Why Disco?

Our boy DJ y@ from the northern land of Canada just hooked me up with his brand new bootleg, so I thought I'd post it up for everyone. We've sort of been tracking this kid as his production has gotten better, and this track is yet another big step up. Literally my favorite part of this bootleg is his kick, I still can't quite figure out how to make my kicks sound like I want em too.

-M

Le Disko (y@ Bootleg) - Shiny Toy Guns

BONUS:
I Don't Mean to Flaunt (Original Mix) - y@
Great Electro track

*Also, you can check out more of his tracks and downloads at his SOUNDCLOUD.

Vibed Up (In Your Eyes) (Extended Mix) - Joyce Dennis
Prog/Electro House. I think the voice is annoying, but the production is top notch.

Lamur (Henry Saiz Remix) - Guy J
Really long but extremely beautiful Prog track. Some really hard hitting Electro parts too.

Keep It Goin Louder (Tom Stephan Harder Remix) - Major Lazer Feat. Nina Sky & Ricky Blaze
Great Dutch vibe in this one.

Tagoma - Marek Hemmann
Awesome Deep House track.

Flonko Enculè (DJ Andrew Dee's Balkan Bootleg) - Steve Angello Vs. Jack Is Wack
EXCELLENT bootleg, this would destroy live.

Tortuga (Original Mix) - Mark Mendes
Tribal wot wot

Set Me Free (Zombie Disco Squad Remix) -Drop The Lime
I don't think I'd actually ever play this, it's just so cool.

Wanna Be Starting Something (Original Mix) - Alex Guerrero
You'll recognize the sample.

Jagerbomb (Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike Remix) - Riley & Durrant
More for the Rave crowd.

Bangkok - Boris Dlugosch
This is an awesome track, but the quality is eh. Electro/Tech.

03 January 2010

Other Batch #2

This batch is pretty random, tracks that I like but wouldn't really consider playing live.

-M

Disco Science - Mirwais
Anyone seen that movie Snatch? This one's in it. What genre is this?

Classic (With the Pharcyde) (Remix) - Ancient Astronauts
AMAZING hip hop beat.

Rockin With The Best (Ernold Sane Remix) - Aaron Lecrate
Really cool, Indian influenced Hip Hop.

Big Truck Part II - Kazey & Bulldog
Bmore take on an unforgettable hip hop track. Let's say +10 Bastille Love and Admiration points for who can call the sample in this one.

Alive (Feat. Ratatat) - KiD CuDi
This is pretty old, but you still gotta love the beat.

Broerne Brænder ft. Fagget Fairys - Specktors
Weird/foreign hip hop, more electronic.

Cha Cha Slide (Original Live Platinum Band Mix) - Mr. C
Oh yeah. Cheers to Just Gravy crew.

Other Batch #2 Zipped

Frame of Mind (John Dahlback Remix) - DK7
Brand new remix from one of the masters.

Fidget House Batch #2

Horay for fidget house, yay.

-M

Embrace (Mick Matias Remix) - Pnau
Pretty Fidget track, good alternative to the amazing Falke remix.

Digital Love (ALGERONICS Remix) - Daft Punk
Good Fidget take on an already amazing track.

Jesus Theme (Canblaster Bassline Remix) - What Planet Is This
Danciest track in the post.

Devil's Eyes - Drop The Lime
Need lots of bass on your speakers to really appreciate this one.

Wooh! (Original) - Mike Mago
WAHWAHWAHWAH
