It's surprisingly underwhelming in your headphones compared to the carnage it causes on a proper system.  This is one of those tracks that gets the crowd jumping.  Unfortunately, really the only keeper from the Tron remix album, which I was super excited to post until I listened to it.  Oh well.

Speaking of Dutch House.  This actually sounds a lot more like Nari & Milani than Chuckie, in that the lead is just rhythmic and not a Dutch line.

MASSIVE Dubstep alert.  This would just destroy, I can see it.

Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough (Gigamesh Remix) - Michael Jackson
Super extended Nu Disco groove remake.  It's super similar to the original, so you won't piss off a bunch of people.  Really just a great DJ tool.

Alright (Tocadiscos Dub Mix) - Tocadisco feat Lennart a. Salomon
Cut the mid range, drop the bass.  Electro House.  The vocal drop rules.

French House Arrest Episode XII: 1999

Gonna revive an old series I do here on the development of the best damn genre of dance music there is.  This is French House Arrest.  You can check out the earlier episodes by clicking on the link under Best of AwB.  This episode will be the first on the great year of 1999.  I've got one of the best damn French House albums of all time, along with two tracks from some great French dudes.

1999 - Cassius

I love Cassius.  At the time, they were like the 'other' Daft Punk that didn't really make it.  And deservedly so, they aren't gods, but they did put out one of the best damn French House releases ever.  Cassius is Boom Bass and Philippe Zdar, who was a member of Motorbass (the first French House group, read about it HERE), produced the latest Phoenix album, and is producing the new album by The Rapture.  Why is this album important?  It's a great definition of the genre, that is, the sound they create is cooler than you can ever hope to be.  Listening requires lighting up a cigarette.

ALSO, Cassius just released a new EP on Ed Banger Records TODAY.  It's not that great, unfortunately, but it's nice to see that Ed Banger still exists and is working with some legends of the past.

My Kind of...Chicago - Jackson

Meet Jackson.  Sometimes, he goes by Jackson and His Computer Band.  However, back in 1999, he was just Jackson.  He's sort of fallen into obscurity, unfortunately, but he will always be a legend among the French DJ scene.  Here's a little rare gem he released in 1999 that I picked up a while back.  Who ever said drum machines have no soul?  And if you're looking to cop his recent IDM album, you can do so HERE.

Vous Voulez De La Musique (Sébastien Léger Remix) - Fafa Monteco

Meet Sébastien Léger.  He's another French House giant.  Here's a funky track by him that was released in the fine year of 1999.

Casa Techno

Rainbow would be the best noun to illustrate an artist that has been through it all, you name it odds are he’s probably already done it. Described as a Veteran DJ and Music ambassador since he was in short trousers. From a simple white canvas with a few amateur drawings to a colorful Master Piece.

As a Painter the master piece that put him on track was his live performance at Zap Club in Brighton in 1988. Where he decided to turn the heat up by spinning with 3 vinyl decks, making 15000 knocked up ravers get back up on their already swollen feet. From there on he’s been enjoying a wide variety of scenes, such as djing at SW4, WMC, The Arches, Matter, the Global Gathering which are nothing but baby steps when compared to his respectable record of djing in Ibiza for 8 years in a row. As if the festivals weren’t a colorful palette, Mr Carl Cox has been spotted djing alongside Fat Boy Slim, Francois Kevorkian, Laurent Garnier, Fedde Le Grand, Green Velvet, Pendulum, Plump Djs and many others.

Rainbow Man’s I Want You dropped in 1991 top 30 hits under the Perfecto Label. Not really feeling the sounds of trance and ‘fluffy’ house of the time, he turned back to the underground world where he met his true love, TECHNO. Ever Since he’s been spinning techno bangers as if they we’re nothing but doodles in a white canvas. I Want You track has been remixed by the mighty Deadmau5 and has remixed Moby’s Walk With Me from a sophisticated track into a certified techno banger. 2006 saw the celebration of Carl Cox's own label Intec Records drop it's 50th release Sebastien Leger's Bad Clock.

Carl Cox is a man of quality not quantity, his experience as a dj has given him an ear for selecting quality tunes. Thus I strongly recommend to keep and eye out for his top charts on beatport and his mixes on b@Tv.

Autumn (Original Mix) by John Dahlback **************, I've fallen in love with this song and it hasn't left my mind since I got it maybe a week and half to two weeks ago. It's got some of the great aspects of pyramid combined with these crazy electro breaks, and the actual flow of the song is amazing as it changes so well from section to section. He's the master, there's no doubt.

If you like TV Rock, then this is the section for you. Otherwise known as my favorite section:

In Your Soul (Original Mix) by Muzzaik ** Muzzaik's a newcomer to this blog, but I don't think this will be the last time we see production by Muzzaik. For me this sound's like a mix of TV Rock and D.O.N.S., still fucking crazy song really well produced. Don't be the last to jump on the train.

Wildpitch (Original Mix) by Muzzaik *** Sounds like a mix of TV Rock and Audible to me now, maybe leaning on the TV Rock side. What an amazing combination... I just can't get enough.

Busted (Original Mix) by Muzzaik ***, Different then the other two above, but still awesome. Would you call this more tech housey/minimal? Doesn't matter cause that genre is taking over. But this should be in a different section

Pressure (Original Mix) by Luke Chable ****, Chable's a man who I've known has been around for quite a while and has actually worked with TV Rock. Needless to say just amazing stuff. He has such a full sound, it's so full that it really does require a full post on him

Don't Wancha (TV Rock Edit) by Zoe Badwi ***, This is one of those TV Rock songs where you can really see the influence that Dirty South has had on the boys. Still definitely a great song, not my favorite, but worth putting in that collection of TV Rock Songs.

In the Air (Axwell Remix) by TV Rock Ft. Rudy****, Is this old? Actually I'm pretty sure it's relatively new. Cause I can't believe I had never found it before. Axwell doing what he does best, destroying everything in his path.

Heads Off (Original Mix) by Spencer & Hill ***, This is an amazing song, don't get me wrong, but there's something about it. It just sounds too chaotic for me, even though it's in 320. I don't deny this would explode live though. Not to mention that buildup is fantastic.

Reach For the Stars (Thomas Gold Remix) by Antoine Clamaran **, It's good I guess, I feel like M would like this better then me for some reason. I don't know why it's rated so low in my book, part of me really enjoys this and part of me just changes to the next song.

Evacuate the Dancefloor (PH Electro Remix) by Cascada ****, I would give this 3 and a half if I'm honest. Really surprised me when I listened to this. Definitely worth giving a listen to, even though the vocals suck of course. Really Poppy. Really gross. But does a good job of having me forget that. I can't remember what this reminds me of.

Relax (Michael Mind Remix) by 2-4 Grooves feat. Rekki. D *** Yes Yes Yes I will give you all my loving. Haha.

The Rendition (Sebastien Leger's Good Clock Remix) by Dave Robertson & Jon Gurd ******, If there was a war, Leger would be leading the troops with this song. Enough said.

Space (Original Mix) by Afrojack ****, the man does what he does, and there's no arguing against him.

Foreign Affair (Hardwell Remix) by Sylver ***, The vocals annoy me, but the actual melody is great. I enjoyed this song but wouldn't play it live.

Heads Off ( Bastian Van Shield Remix) by Spencer & Hill ****, yes it's a remix of the above posted song. And yet definitely better then the original (though it is different). Now I gotta start watching out for this guy, because of how cool this remix is.

Deep Fear (D.O.N.S. Remix) by Sidekick **, I mean it's amazing, but I feel like I've heard this before from D.O.N.S., I'm just not completely wowed, but I do thoroughly enjoy this.

House Music (Sharooz remix) by Paul Anthony & Harrison Crump ***** AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING AMAZING. Destroys everything in it's path. It has those breaks similar to autumn up top, but this is definitely a much more electro song. Keep it up.

Asa Dachi (Miles Dyson & Tobz Remix) by Yenn *, Not my cup of tea, and I do like some Dub step, but this this.

Chris Lake (Updated)

Chris Lake is an incredible House DJ/producer from London town that is affiliated with the Mau5trap family. Now, anybody that keeps company / collaborates with guys like Deadmau5, Sébastien Léger, and Dirty South is clearly of interest. His production style varies through pretty much all of the sub genres of House, so there's definitely something for all of you, and I definitely like it when producers can vary up their style without sacrificing quality. I've even seen videos of him dropping Minimal tracks live, but it seems like tons of DJs tend to go more minimal when playing live. Definitely one of the more promising producers in the game right now, and I don't see any signs of him slowing. I'm gonna shamelessly adopt J's style of posting some favorite and then link to my collection at the bottom:

I actually just got this track fairly recently and fell in love with it. The second buildup is beautiful. So amazing. The track's got an Electro bass with Housey piano chords and even some Tech House sounds.

Man this track kicks ass. Great mix of Tech House with that awesome funky guitar sample. You can really hear the styles of both producers in this.

Robots (Original Mix) - Chris Lake
This is an example of Chris Lake creating an Electro House bomb. This even got popularity on a few Electro blogs.

Riot For Deadmau5

So I got to participate in a riot for Deadmau5 when his more people showed up to his free show last night at the Apple Store in Santa Monica than expected. I feel like only expecting 250 people to show up for a free show from the man voted #11 DJ in the world and one of the best producers, if not the best, around right now, was a pretty bad idea on whoever's idea this was. It was a blast banging on the glass, shouting at the cops, and being a general hooligan. Regardless, I'm getting ready to see his not free show tonight at the HARD event at the Palladium with Moderat. Here are some Deadmau5 tracks you might not have:

Slip - Deadmau5
This is the UNMIXED version from his Slip Vinyl rather than from Random Album Title, meaning that its DJ friendly. This was my first favorite Deadmau5 track.

Amazing remix. This track makes so much more sense on big speakers. Also form the Slip Vinyl. Still have yet to see Sébastien Léger live, I'm sure he's fantastic. There might be a Sébastien Léger post in order, but I fear for how massive it would be.

God I love this song. Very simple edit of the original, but SO much better.

Progressive Post!

On the plane ride home for summer, I was DJing on my laptop while my friend listened through a splitter. As I noticed he was falling asleep, so I figured I'd lay off the electro bangers and switch to some more progressive (I wish I had another word for this genre, I really do. What the hell does Progressive mean in terms of music anyways? They should call it Trancey House or something, because thats all it is) stuff to keep from torturing the poor guy. This reminded me how awesome some of these tracks really are. They really could only be played live at a massive rave, but that doesn't keep them from being some of the most beautiful dance tracks out there. I don't care if anybody thinks that these are 'commercial' or 'gay' because a good tracks deserve credit. Here are some progressive tracks old and new.

Deadmau5 got nominated for a 2008 grammy for this one, but didn't win. In fact, Justice won with their remix of Electric Feel by MGMT. Oh, where have they gone...

Still keep coming back to this one. So incredibly beautiful. Adam K & Soha are masters of Progressive.

Majuro (Original Mix) - Sébastien Léger
Oh god this song is amazing. Definitely my favorite Léger track for sure. He's a guy that has a ton of versatility when it comes to genre.

Raining Again (Steve Angello's Vocal Mix) - Moby
YES! This song will be stuck in your head for the rest of your life, and you'll love it. Perfect way to end a set. Hooray for Steve Angello.

Dreamer (Deniz Koyu & Micha Moor Remix) - Niels Van Gogh
So amazing. I need to look into Micha Moor, because this track is just amazing.

Dreams - Deep Dish & Axwell
This is a remix/cover of Fleetwood Mac that they actaully got Stevie Nicks to sing the vocals on (aka its not sampled). They say that Deep Dish invented Progressive House, who would have guessed that one of the members would become Dubfire and start making the most awesome minimal house/techno tracks around. This track was originally by Deep Dish, but I guess they decided to redo it with Axwell's help, and good thing too.

If you want more House music, you absolutely should go HERE and search through the giant list of mp3s for things you might want. I tried scrolling through them, but quickly gave up and instead started searching names with the 'apple F' command. I have found new Deadmau5, Axwell, Laidback Luke, John Dahlback, Sebastien Leger, etc. Hell, I even found a new Hostage track. I think you get the point by now. Happy hunting.

Ian Carey

Ian Carey is a house DJ/producer from the US that has some impressive tracks. This is the first installment of posts that will focus on artists that I discovered from Swehouse, since I know most of you probably did not dig through about a years worth of posts like I did. I'm starting with Ian Carey because, so far, his remix of Set It Off is definitely my favorite track that I've gotten recently. I present Ian Carey:

Set It Off (Ian Carey Remix) - Dennis Christopher
Absolutely incredible. Massive organ driven house anthem, and in my opinion hits harder than any of the Laidback Luke organ jams. Can't wait for an opportunity to drop this live. His best track by far.

Lose Control (Ian Carey Original Mix) - Ian Carey Presents The Good Guys
Very solid electro house track.

Let It Go (Ian Carey Remix) - Steve Smooth And JJ Flores Feat B Lee
This track reminds me of Deadmau5, which is definitely a good thing.
No Pressure (Deadmau5 Remix) - One Plus One
(Bonus Trivia, One Plus One is a collaboration that includes one of my personal favorites, James Zabiela).

Bol (Ian Carey Remix) - Valeria
I could imagine Swedish House Mafia dropping this in a set very easily.

Very space disco-y. And I'm sure you all know how much I love my space disco.

A little more on the Tech House side, could see Sébastien Léger playing this live.

Good track, but skipable by all means. It's got a nice disco feel and lyrics that definitely grab you in a very strange way, but not as good as Miss Broadway.
