House Batch #4

It's finals for most of us. What better way to cheer yourself up than by blasting House music and singing along to those horribly awful lyrics sung by them House divas? Just leave the world behind you. Babe, I just hope that you know to never let me go, cuz when it comes to forever we should be together. Don't forget to check out the bonus track at the bottom, it's the best one of the bunch.

Also, gonna give a big shout out to The Temple Of House, great source for House music.

-M

Can't Get High Without U (David Penn Mix) - Joey Negro
This is House music at it's best. Get this song. It's not Prog, it's not Tech, it's not Disco, this is just fuckin House.

Time After Time (Chris Reece Progressive Dub) - Tiff Lacey, Alexander Popov, Feel
Beautiful Progressive track, one of my favorites at the moment.

Now That We Found Love (Main Mix) - Sunlovers
Organ House. Yes! Also note the title, I'm sure you can guess that these lyrics are brilliant as well.

The Bomb (Youth's Street Player 2 Turbo Edition Edit) - The Bucketheads
Great edit of a classic, probably the one I'd most likely play live as it's never too repetitive in one spot (cough cough original).

Perfect (Roger Sanchez Club Mix) - Depeche Mode
Roger Sanchez is a legend, here's why.

Walk On By (Club Mix) - Picco
For those readers that love Electro House, this one's for you. It's got one of those harmony basslines, goes up like a major third. Strange tribal/prog buildup, sounds like the Lion King.

Tricky Tricky (Beyond Deep Remix) - Royksopp
Another great Progressive track. I wouldn't play this live, more just a listening track.

Rapture (Bestrack Remix) - DatA
Knowing the original, this remix RULES. Really makes it so much better.

Trust In You Original Mix) - Passenger 10
Pretty standard Prog track. If Prog is your thing, grab this.

And a special shout out to:

Hot (Extended Version) - Kamei

Radio Station - Kamei

This 15 year old makes incredibly awesome Disco House. HUGE props. Everyone should check out Kamei.

BONUS:
Heavy Cross (Siriusmo Dub) - Gossip (GOLDEN BANANA)
Seriously awesome work from Siriusmo. This is what I would imagine Voyager (Justice Remix) - Daft Punk could sound like.

Spencer and Hill Compilation best of part 1

I love Spencer and Hill, definitely top of the top electro-house producers. Wolfgang beats them, Dave Darrel sometimes does but isn't as consistent, and Dabruck and Klein have a bunch of amazing tracks but I don't think they beat Spencer and Hill. I would recommend going to that collection site if A. you're a dj, because you might want as much as you can get or if you have a bunch of their tracks that arent in 320 this collection was basically all 320. B. Because I said so. A lot of these tracks are not new, and I might have thrown in a few newer ones, not necessarily the newest.

Go here to go to that huge post full of Spencer And Hill, here and here are a few older posts of ours.

It's the weekend, which means I expect all you to at least be drunk one of those nights. Throw some of these tunes on if you so please, and see the desired effect, you'll understand.

The Girl and The Robot (Spencer And Hill Remix) by Royksopp, by far the best remix of this song I've heard, beating the Elan by a long shot. I've been listening to this track on repeat for like 2 weeks now, if you havn't already gotten it, this is the time. This will probably be in most of my sets for a little while.

Cry for you (Spencer and Hill Extended) by September, Michael showed me the original of this song a long time ago, and it's basically tell my why by supermode. However, this remix is really awesome. Sounds kind Swedish House Mafiaesque.

Pitchdown (Spencer and Hill Remix) by Lowrider, really really interesting track. At first the beginning kind of threw me off and I didn't like it, but I've changed my mind. Something really cool about it.

Get Up (Vocal Mix) by Spencer and Hill, Walking bassssssss line. Funny to see in this collection of all these tracks how Spencer and Hill used to make some more funky disco house like tracks (though Fred Falke would probably be a better description in some ways)

Some Kind of Rush (Spencer and Hill Remix) by Booty Luv, same style as the above track, still great.

So much Love to give (Spencer and Hill Remix) by Dj Tom and Bump N Grind, good ol Spencer and Hill. This is their very typical sound, but gotta love it.

Keep On (Spencer and Hill Remix) By Cezar Cunningham, kind of a progressive feel in an interesting way, even though it's an electro banger.

Think About the Way 2009 (Spencer and Hill Remix) by Gig Barocco and Ice MC, so much fun

James Zabiela

Can you say dream gig? James Zabiela is a world renowned House/Techno (I have a lot of trouble placing him in a specific genre) DJ/producer from the UK that happens to have beastly CDJ skills and also holds the #17 spot in DJ Mag's lovely Top 100 DJ Poll (everyone should vote next year, Daft Punk deserves better). He will be at EDC saturday night on the main stage, so if you're planning on going (if you live in LA and are reading this, you obviously are), you really should take a break from the Electro stage to check this fool out. When playing live, he uses two CDJs with one of those crazy Pioneer effects things AND THEN a comp with a midi controller seperately (aka CDJs aren't running through the comp). But enough about his live show, here's what he's capable of in the studio:

-M

Runaway (James Zabiela's Red Eye Remix) - Ladytron
My favorite thing he's got. Expertly produced down to every last detail, thats about as much as I can say, really.

Reckoner (James Zabiela's Tweezers on a Towel Rail Remix) - Radiohead
Designed for giant rooms or outdoor festivals.

Candy (James Zabiela Remix) - Spooky
The best part about all his songs are the percussion, meaning all the really cool drums that aren't just kick and snare. He just knows how to produce, thats all there really is to say.

Remind Me (James Zabielas Ingeborg Mix) - Royksopp

This one's different, most likely because its from 2002 rather than 2008 like the rest. Less housey.

The Perseverance EP - James Zabiela
His EP that I managed to grab a while back from The Piratebay. Just as awesome as his remixes. I highly recommened listening to this with your eyes close and a good pair of headphones. Masterful production, really beautiful.

Darkness EP - James Zabiela
Much darker than his other EP (hence the title I suppose), a lot more like his remixes, but still the same top notch production. Comes with an awesome remix of one of the tracks on the other EP.

Also, check out this video to viddy his horrorshow CDJ skills:

Also, we're always looking for more tracks, so if you happen to have any tracks by him that you noticed I didn't post (this is everything I got of his), please help us out and give us a link in the comments. This really goes for any of the guys we post about, we're more an aggregator than a regular blog anyways.

J's addition: No Pressure by One Plus One (Jamex Zabiela and Nic Fanuciulli)

Trentemøller Is One Scary Dude

His strange appearance aside, the man certainly knows his way around a synth, or anything that plugs into a wall I'm convinced.  Again and again I'm blown away by the awesome-ness of almost everything he produces.  Part Tech House, Part Minimal, part experimental/glitchy, the guy can kill it.  Here's a new remix he did of Yoshimoto that I found today:
And in case you've forgotten, his godly remix of Royksopp:
