KU BO

Yay, another European that's decided to try a hand at Baile Funk, Germany's Stefan Mörth (Aka Stereotyp, KU BO) This time it's Two EPs, both off of man recordings, real dope electro/tech/house-inspired baile funk tracks. Real Minimal, in a way, too. Enjoy>>>

- Jumpman

You may also remember his track 'Jeçe Valdão' that he did as Stereotyp with Edu K and Joyce Muniz, featured on the Funk Mundial Compilation we posted a while back, here.

DJ Amazing Clay

With over 27 years of experience, DJ Amazing Clay, has dominated the baile funk scene since its beginnings, founding Equipe Curtisom Rio, one of Rio De Janeiro's earliest Baile Funk Sound Systemas. This was his release from last year, on German Baile Funk Exponent label Man Recordings, owned by Daniel Haaksman, it contains some real classic sounding beats, meaning instead of drawing on electro-house they are a little more old school sample based peices with some awesome/raw guitar sampling. Check It out>

Edu K

Edu K has brought such an awesome sound to Funk Carioca it's unbelievable. Ravey electro-house meets the Latin beats and Portugese rap of Baile Funk. Edu K is one of the artists responsible for bringing the sound to an international audience, making waves with his first release Frenetiko, which is a little closer to classic Rio Funk with some definate New Wave,80s, and House influences, since then his music has just gotten more and more infused with this ravey electro sound to a very good effect, honestly he just keeps kicking out banger after banger. Most of his releases have been on Man Recordings, who also released the Funk Mundial Series, the compilation of which i posted (here). His Brother also raps alongside him fyi. Anyways, i'm sure your gonna love this stuff, check it out, sounds like it would kill live>

Edu K - Headbanger EP (HIGHly recommended)

BONUS TRACKS:
Mixhell - Boom Da! (Edu K Remix) <(Highly Recommended, one of the best tracks in recent memory, RAVEY)
Edu K - Raver Lovin (Nadastrom Remix)

M's BONUS TRACKS:

Druggggssszzz (Edu K Remix) - Cowgum

A lot like Crookers.

Salami (Edu K Ham N' Cheese Remix feat. Barbarella) - La Mode
Fidget House

Hold The Line (Edu K Remix) - Major Lazer

Tribal, I guess. Not really sure how to define this, but I bet it'd kill live, even if its a little underwhelming at home.

Everyone's A DJ (Edu K Mix) - Oh Snap

More electro/fidget with big Crookers influence

Badboy (Edu K Remix) - Paul Whitehead
This one's very minimal and tribal

Pela Primeira Vez (Edu K Remix) - Seguindo Sonhos

Ooww Barr Boo (Edu K Remix) - Tee 'Ski & Shab Ruffcut

Times Like These (Edu K's Mucho Fucked Up Mix) - Albin Myers
This one's really weird but cool. Interesting to see him remix Albin Myers of all people, I guess nobody is safe.

FUNK MUNDIAL!

Baile Funk is Brazil's native genre of dance music, miami bass/b-more style samples infused with a latin beat, and some portugese rap. Began in the 80's and has grown to an international scene in recent years, with some help from diplo. Anyways, it's alot of fun, came across the funk mundial series of EPs not to long ago, released by MAN recordings, it takes electronic musicians, like crookers, feadz, etc. and has them take their hand at some funk production. The Results, alas, are awesome. Here is the Compilation Album released in the last month, that is mixed/compiled by MAN recordings head Daniel Haaksman. featured musicians include: Crookers (really awesome songs, that you've probably seen before, Aguas De Parco, Para de Graçinha, and more, but new edits this time) feadz (samples mozart, yay), The Count and Sinden, Seiji, and Jesse Rose. Anyways, ever since this series of EPs and the highly illegal Eurogirls compilation by Jean Nipon and Orgasmic ive really gotten into the sound of Baile Funk(or apparantly the european take on it), hope you enjoy this>>
