Wax Monsters

I'm extremely proud introduce some more underground shit to y'all.  Wax Monsters are dreamy Synth Pop group from Oberlin College.  Following in the trail of guys like Teengirl Fantasy, they've been starting to pick up steam with the release of their new self-titled EP.  I've been in contact with one of the members for a while, so I've had to opportunity to hear his sound evolve.  And I gotta say, I was blown away with this EP.  You've got the Synth Pop elements, along with some clear influences from more experimental producers like Baths and Daedelus.  So, if you're into music that makes you feel happy and like you're a child again, definitely cop this.

My personal favorite on the EP.  I was sold the first time I heard the sample come in at 26 seconds, but then the track just evolves and builds into this beautiful feeling, similar to the happiness you had as a child content to just be running around in the sun.  The sample use is incredible.

This would be the whole EP.

Digitalism

Weird album cover/title.  Do love me some Digitalism though.  I'll be honest, haven't listened yet, but I've heard good things.  If anyone's in LA, check out Canblaster on Thursday, Feed Me on Friday, and Goj1ra on Saturday.

Also, would still love some recommendations as to tracks I've missed over the last 3 months.

Wherever We Are, Human Life Is There Too

I like to think that Human Life is looking into the future in this picture.  You might remember this epic group from when we interviewed them about a year ago (check that out HERE), but they've got some new exciting stuff that we're proud to promote.  They've just released a brand new EP that you can BUY HERE.  The release is packed full of awesome remixers, including the blogosphere hero Grum.  Anyways, let's get to the awesome tracks:

Wherever We Are - Original Mix by Human Life

Extremely catchy track, I really can't get the voice out of my head. Incredibly smooth, crisp production, you can tell they spent a lot of time on this one.

Wherever We Are - Nightriders Remix by Human Life

A slightly calmer remix that I'm happy to say they're offering as a free download from Soundcloud.

Italo Crimewave - Original Mix by Human Life

And here's the B Side, which they're also offering as a download.

Also, check out this awesome video for the title track. If there's anything I love more than Nu-Disco, it's beautiful Lesbian Romance. And this video's got both, what a treat.

Other Batch #3

Mongol General: Hao! Dai ye! We won again! This is good, but what is best in life?

Mongol: The open steppe, fleet horse, falcons at your wrist, and the wind in your hair.

Mongol General: Wrong! Conan! What is best in life?

Conan: To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.

Mongol General: That is good! That is good.

Dissolving Time - H.U.V.A. Network
Amazingly beautiful ambient/electronic track.

See Waves - Nice Nice
(Golden Banana)
This shit is awesome. It's somewhat reminiscent of Yeasayer, and I love those guys. Cool experimental, electronic rock that's totally danceable.

Be Mine - Erik Hassle & Ellie Goulding
This song is just so beautiful. Just vocals and guitar, very rare for this blog. Its really just her voice just is so good on this, like REALLY fucking good.

Dreamin - Gift Of Gab
Great Hip Hop track, this beat is awesome.

The High Road - Broken Bells
Electronic indie music I guess? It's slow tempo, just got a great feel to it.

Headlock (Matamatics Remix) - Imogen Heap
Could be mixed into a Dubstep set I geuss, but it's not really Dubstep, it's just at the same tempo. Very pretty track.

Rico's Groove - Electric Sea Spider
Awesome Experimental Hip Hop stuff here, electronic/sample based.

The King And All Of His Men (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs Remix) - Wolf Gang
Very nice Synth Pop.

Contact - Foreign Beggars & Noisia
Hip Hop with a distorted ass Electro bass.

It's All Relative (Family First) - Black Element
Another awesome Hip Hop track with a fantastic beat.

Twelves Reasons to love the Twelves

The Twelves:

1. They're from Brazil

2. Look at the setup in the picture, it's beautiful.

3. They make the best synth poppy electro you can find out there

4. They look like really nice guys

5. They're bearded (always a plus)

6. They make great mixes, so I assume they're great DJs.

7. They've made a remix that makes every college kid jizz their pants when they hear it at a party

8. Both M and I like them so: you should like them

9. Did I mention they're from Brazil?

10. They know what's cool (I'm really starting to lose ideas for this)

11. M sometimes acts like a twelves year old boy

12. Lastly, but definitely not least, it's been almost 12 years (or more realistically 12 weeks) since Jumpman has posted. Refer to these posts to understand better: First and second

EDIT: I forgot how amazing this one is:
Thursday (The Twelves Remix) by Asobi Seksu

Help, I'm Alive (Twelves Remix) by Metric, SO good, I've had this song for quite a while, but I never really sat down and listened to it. Classic Twelves.

Take on Me (Twelves Remix) by A-Ha, just incredible. What a great remix of this song, would recommend playing for any set with this kind of happy/feel good atmosphere. This song would just destroy a party in college. People love what they know.

Drugs in My Body (Twelves Remix) by The Twelves, This was actually the song which started getting me into the Twelves. My friend Tony gave me this even before their boyfriend remix. Though I do admit it's by no means my favorite, it holds a sentimental value so I though I'd put it up.

GREAT to play at any party:
Boys (The Twelves Remix) by M.I.A., this should be evident why this would be a good song to play at a party.

Reckoner (The Twelves Remix) by Radiohead, I don't normally approve of most Radiohead remixes, but this one is so fantastic. Really keeps the idea of the original, just makes it a little dancier.

So Far Away from the Sea (Twelves Remix) by Yuksek, an amazing original, Yuksek alone would get me to listen to this remix.

Hurricane Jane (Twelves Remix) by The Black Kids

Ce Jeu (The Twelves Remix) by Yelle, Just found this one, though it's not new, it's great.
