Big Adventures turns into a Big Album

We at Apes With Barrels have always been a big fan of feed me. In fact M still swears by the Feed Me Remix of the Morning After Dark (while everybody else talks about the Wolfgang). But Mau5trap has found a star as his album is dominating beatport right now with most songs in the top charts. And I gotta agree this album kills. Enjoy peeps!

She Wore Velour...

Velour is the Funky collaboration between two established house and dubstep producers, who as far as i know have chosen to remain mysterious/anonymous. The EP, entitled The Velvet Collection includes four variations of a single theme, it is meant as an homage to the roland synthesizers of the 1980's. They're behind one of the track's of the year i like to think with Booty Slammer, overall very funk infused sexual emotive joints, hope you enjoy it.

Jam Hot Tracks from Jam City

Nightslugs is definitely my fav label of the year, and they've been hiding away some gems from this amazing UK producer for quite some time but now theyre finally finding theyre way out, especially thanks to his latest release on the label, entitled magic drops, and boy does the title track deliver just that, this guy has such clarity in his production technique, he has a dynamic range from spectral disco beats to hardcore subby 2step funky jams. Keep looking out for this guy, big things.

Dirty Bit

I've been in major finals mode.  Life's been horrible.  If you want to know how I've been procrastinating, click HERE for the most beautiful and depressing game I've ever experienced.  And if you think there isn't anything to it, trust me there is, just look for it.  It is art.

Some remixes finally leaked in 320 that I've been excited for, so I thought I'd take a moment to post em.  The buildups I hate, but that's just because I don't really care for the original.

-M

The Time (Dirty Bit) (Zedd Remix) - The Black Eyed Peas (GOLDEN BANANA)
Zedd has quickly risen as one of the most exciting names in Electro House right now, along with guys like Porter Robinson and some more established names like Lazy Rich and Skrillex, seeing as their styles are somewhat similar.  It's exciting, I like it.  He also goes half time for the second drop, which is his signature I guess.

The Time (Dirty Bit) (Afrojack Remix) - The Black Eyed Peas (Silver Banana)
Of course this remix will get played out the most.  I like it, got a lot of friends hating on Afrojack right now.  I'm not tryna hate on anyone so much, unless his name is Steve Aoki.  This remix is Electro/Dutch House, and I'm a fan, but the Zedd remix definitely takes the cake over this.

The Time (Dirty Bit) (Felguk Remix) - The Black Eyed Peas
Also a remix from one of my personal favorite Electro House acts straight outa Brazil.  Unfortunately, this remix isn't one of their best.  It's heavy for sure, but it's sorta random.

Dubbel Dutch

Austin, Texas has been proving to be home to some real great artists as of late, electro-god Wolfgang Gartner, 2-steppers VVV, and now a young Funky producer, Marc Glasser, better known as Dubbel Dutch. Glasser, a former NYC native, has been rocking clubs with his bright, syncopated, tropical productions, crisp and toasty house numbers drawing from a diverse range of sunsoaked genres such as juke, Tribal Guarachero, oldschool rave, dutch house, kuduro, jungle, UK Garage, and the works other fellow sub bass loving mutant funky strain producers from across the pond, with whom he's gotten alot of playtime as of late. Here's some original productions and remixes that i hope you enjoy.

Dubbel Dutch - Deep Underground (Removed)
Momma's Boy & Mikix the Cat - At Night (Dubbel Dutch Remix) (Removed)

FRY2FEADZ

Feadz' last EP felt a little all over the place, as feadz seemingly looked to diversify his sound as the distorted french invasion daftpunkspawned electro-house style which was all the rage began to phase out with the end decade. Essentially an album length wise, T.U.F.F. EP is a real return to form, every track killer and refreshing electro-house, with some awesome features from Boys Noize & L-Vis 1990, over all it flows really well. Cop this,, enjoy!

Nights Eyes - Exhale EP

Just got the go ahead from Night Eyes to post up their EP.  If you're unfamiliar with Night Eyes, they make haunting Electro that's both dancey and appealing to a broader audience than just the typical e-tarded dance community.  This is everything that I wish Witch House was (sorry Jumpman).  They also used to be called Sssen, and we interviewed them.  Check that out HERE.

I'm a huge fan and supporter of these guys, and really hope they can break through in this unforgiving world of egotistical bloggers on power trips that usually ignore pleads of recognition through emails and track submissions (I'm absolutely guilty of it too, it's difficult to have a heart in the face of an overflowing inbox).

Also, how bout that Wikileaks shit.  Crazy.

-M

Exhale EP - Night Eyes
Really fucking awesome.  This is a link to their bandcamp, so you can stream the tracks and download them.

Viscera (Single) - Night Eyes
Looks like they've put out a new single since the EP, so I thought I'd include that.

And in case you missed it:
Stray Light (Bastille Remix) - Night Eyes - Free Download by Bastille

Our own remix of one of the tracks from the EP.  It's gotten the best response of any track yet, with support from The Disco Villains, Human Life, and Lucky Date.  And if you've heard it already, now you can hear the original.

Be excellent to each other!

Uppermost

New discovery: Uppermost.  Dude makes incredible Electro House and has remained unknown to myself until very recently.  I've gone about and collected every track of his I could.  I haven't done an artist focused post in a while, but he deserves it.  Sometimes he can sound like Deadmau5, but HARD ELECTRO HOUSE Deadmau5, very few prog moments in these tracks.  He also has a good amount of 6/8 tracks, which are always amazing.  I'm gonna post some favorites up top with my collection at the bottom.

-M

Futur (Original Mix) - Uppermost (GOLDEN BANANA)
This is seriously the best thing in my life right now.  Slower tempo Electro, it's like a French take on Skrillex.  This could have been released on Ed Banger back in the day.

We Are (Original Mix) - Uppermost (Golden Banana)
I hear Wolfgang Gartner in the drop in this one.

Side by Side (Uppermost Mix) - Felguk (Silver Banana)
Of course he remixed my absolute favorite Felguk track.  And this is one of the 6/8 tracks.

Verbal Abuse (Original Mix) - Uppermost
And here's a Deadmau5y track.  Wobble fans will freak.

Babylon (Uppermost Rework) - Congorock
Maybe you've been playing the original a bit too much, or maybe you want to surprise your fans while also playing something they know.

Noise Against The Rules (Original Mix) - Uppermost
Drum & Bass!  FUCK YES!

BONUS REMIXES (Included in Zip):

Take a Blow (Lazy Rich Remix) - Uppermost

Take A Blow (Dada Life Remix) - Uppermost

You know the remixers, so you obviously want the remixes.

Admiral Ackbar

IT'S A TRAP!

-M

Exploration of Space (Spencer & Hill Remix) - Cosmic Gate (Golden Banana)
Big Electro House jam with a super German cheese buildup, complete with those detuned saws we all love.

Inside Out (Original Mix) - DBN & Patric La Funk (Silver Banana)
Progressive House on the Housier side.  Also has a sick acid bass that comes in.  Huge fan of this track.

The Music (Original Mix) - Electrixx
Electro House in all it's glory.

Kick Starts (Wideboys Remix Extended) - Example
If you need to drop a commercial Electro House track.

Fucking VIP Bitch (Original Mix) - Electrixx
Moar Electro House!

Wazabi (Original Mix) - DBN & Patric La Funk
Progressive/Tech House with some weird/cool sounds.  Unique, dissonant, and ravey.

Inside Out (Inpetto Remix) - DBN & Patric La Funk
Making the original more Proggy.

Hell Yeah! (Original Mix) - Electrixx
Electro House with a rap on it.  Also, +500 Bastille Love and Admiration Points for whoever names another song that used this same sample.

Diskout (Main Mix) - Deux (aka David Penn & Toni Bass) feat. Sheilah Cuffy
Progressive House

Tik Tok (Club Edit) - Bob Sinclar feat Sean Paul
For those who REALLY want to play pop stuff.

Roy Batty

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.  Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.  I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate.  All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.

-M

Bromance (The Love You Seek) (Avicii's Vocal Extended) - Tim Berg (Golden Banana)
For those of you that don't have the vocal mix.  One of the best Prog House tracks around right now.

Cobra Charm (Original Mix) - Tim Green (Silver Banana)
One of the most underrated producers in the blog world.  I rarely ever see his name pop up except on the housiest of blogs.  Electro kids, time to grow up.

The Phoenix Alive (Kris Menace Mix) - Monarchy
Electro House on the Nu-Disco side.

Firecracker (Ravid & Fabian Remix) - Syndaesia
DUUUUUUUUUUBBSTTETEEPEPTPEPTEPTEPTESBSUBDUB!

Solitude Is Bliss (Mickey Moonlight Remix) - Tame Impala
This is for you, Jumpman.  For everyone else, if you like psychedelic music, you'll like this.

Envy (Owl Vision Remix) - STYGG
Very uptempo heavy Electro.

Sunshine (Ernold Sane Remix) - Rye Rye feat. M.I.A.
Some Funky for the hipsters.

Dreamer (Sgt Slick Remix) - Tune In Tokyo
Progressive House, some really interesting sounds in this one.  This dude's been doing pretty well on Beatport.

Tweet It (DBN Remix) - Tim Berg, Norman Doray, Sebastien Drums
More Progggggggggggg!

Limit Is The Sky (Original Mix) - Swanky Tunes
MOAR PROG!

Obscure Video Game Character #16

Yer a big feller, aintcha?  You gotta name?  Somebody out there might know it, right?  Whoever does earns a +1,000 Bastille Love and Admiration Points.  To quote some friends, OLESDOIT.

-M

Cantina (Spencer & Hill Mix) - Spencer & Hill & Bastian Van Shield (GOLDEN BANANA)
Crazy Electro House with a Star Wars sample?  I don't think I can imagine many things better.

Fifty What (Dem Slackers Remix) - Sandro Silva and Anjiro Rijo (Silver Banana)
Does that awesome Rave/Babylon drop where the bass doesn't come in until the 2nd kick.  Extremely low synth, you sort of need massive speakers to truly enjoy this.

Only Girl (In The World) vs Bungee (Hardwell & DJ Funkadelic Mash-Up) - Rihanna vs Afrojack & Bobby Burns
For those that love their Tech/Dutch blended with pop.  Fantastic bootleg.

Cantina (Bastian Van Shield Mix) - Spencer & Hill & Bastian Van Shield
The Tech mix.

Cantina (Yolanda Be Cool & Dcup Remix) - Spencer & Hill & Bastian Van Shield
And the House mix.  Same sorta feel as Americano.

Painted Faces (Avicii Remix) - Paul Thomas, Sonny Wharton
Prog from one of the best.

Coloris (S-T3RRA Remix) - She
Fun melodic Electro, AZN hardcore.  I actually posted She's album with the original of this way back when this blog was only meant for the writers.  You can grab it HERE.

Spark (Canblaster Remix)  - J-Wow
I don't really know what to call this, or how to describe it.  All I know is that Canblaster is killing it.

Bed Of Needles (AKS Syndaesia Remix) - Steed Lord
Because someone wants Dubstep.

Wake Up Call - Steve Aoki & Sidney Samson
And someone else is always looking for more Dutch House.

Obscure Video Game Character #15

Not really a character, but rather a game.  It's another doozie, so I'm offering +1,000 Bastille Love and Admiration points for this one.  Who's up to it?

-M

Barbra Steisand Vs. Boogie Disco (Erick Decks Private Mashup) - Duck Sauce Vs. Jay Frog (GOLDEN BANANA)
While the first half is the song you all know and love, it then drops into another similar, but INCREDIBLE Disco House jam.

Snek (Original Mix) - Koen Groeneveld, Arturo Silvestre
Droning Techno.  While this track in particular would clearly piss off a lot of people, I find it incredibly catchy and dancey.

Zorg (Original Mix) - Neon Stereo, Angger Dimas
Dutch House with that bass only Afrojack used to use.

Song For A Girl (Moguai Remix) - Moonbeam Feat Blackfeel Wite
Electro / Progressive House.  Or, if you're me, ELECTROGRESSIVE!

Monster (Your Ol' Lady Remix) - Noize Generation
Electro on the heavier side.  For headbanging.

CVR (Original Club Mix) - Koen Groeneveld
Yeah, Techno!

Irresistible (TV Rock Vocal Mix) - NERVO feat. Ollie James
MOAR ELECTROGRESSIVE HAU5!

Doodlez (Original Mix) - Oliver Twizt
I only call this Dutch House because of the producer.  But it's got some tribal flavor.

Irresistible (Chuckie & Gregori Klosman Remix) - NERVO feat. Ollie James
More Dutch House.  Progressive buildup.
