Pop appeal: Zero
Awesome appeal: Off the charts

Simian Mobile Disco deliver pure, pristine Techno.  And it's glorious.

Obscure Video Game Character #14

One of the most terrifying bosses of all time, but is she before YOUR time?  Most probably.  A whopping 1,000 Bastille Love and Admiration Points to whoever knows this name.  You're either a baller that knows your video games, or your a baller for being quite possibly the oldest person to read this blog.  Either way, you deserve the points.

-M

Niton (Treasure Fingers Remix) - Eric Prydz (GOLDEN BANANA)
Treasure Fingers really elevated himself to the level of a Fred Falke or Lifelike with this remix.  It's unbelievably amazing.

Dub Disco (Lucky Date Remix) - Spencer & Hill (Silver Banana)
The guy you all know and love for his incredible set of Reason Refills (check those out HERE if you are a producer or want to be, you will not regret it), has seriously killed it with this remix.  Big ass Electro House.  I wouldn't be surprised to see him sharing the stage with Porter Robinson in the upcoming months, seeing that they're remixing the same guys and I think they'd work well together.  If either are reading this, you should consider a collaboration.

Sfinx (Original Mix) - John Dahlback (Silver Banana)
I needed to have another banana, because this track deserves it.  What I love most about Dahlback is that he's not afraid to experiment with something new.  Electro House.

Don't Hold Back (John Dahlback & Avicii Original Mix) - Jovicii feat. Andi P
If this collaboration doesn't give you a boner, the get the fuck out.  Great Progressive House track.

Dig It All (Original Mix) - JoeySuki
Tech Dutch House would be the best way to describe it.

Pimpin' Ain't Easy (Format B Remix) - Hugo
Techno in all it's fucking glory.

Homeless (Felix Cartal Gross Edit) - Style Of Eye & Slagsmalsklubben
Electro on the Tech side of things.  Dirty ass bass.

Lost In Love 2010 (Dbn Remix) - Kid Kawaii & Legend B
Some Big Room Progressive.

Love No Limit (Zoo Brazil Remix) - Kai, Kyle
More Techno.  Really cool bass in this one.

Ride The Snake

I WANT SPEED.  I WANT FAST.  I WANT TO...

RIDE THE SNAKE

How does one ride the snake, you ask?  I'm glad you did.

It's easy.  Easy as pie.

1. Take some speed
2.  Put on some Drum & Bass (conveniently provided below)

The rest comes naturally.
-M

Stigma - Noisia (Golden Banana)
This is ideal for Riding The Snake.

What up Hunter S Thompson!  He was big on half of the steps necessary to Riding The Snake.  I feel like J Rabbit knew that when making this song.  This snake also appreciates a good spliff and enjoys getting down with some Dubstep.

I like to Ride The Snake down the stairs sometimes.  I usually end up tripping or sliding down the banister though.

Riding this snake is more like riding a pretty snake with a bite, rather than a HO SHIT THAT SNAKE BE  POISONOUS sorta snake.

Techy snake that likes to express itself with some rap.

Progressive snakes can be ridden as well.

Be prepared for a wobbly ass ride on this snake.

Here, there be serpents.

Obscure Video Game Character #13

Who's gonna get this one?  +500 Bastille Love and Admiration Points?  Game on.

-M

I mean, it's Dada Life.  Always solid Electro House when their name is attached.

Drug Abuse - BetaTraxx (Silver Banana)
This track is really impressive.  Didn't know about this dude till gLAdiator told me that they were opening for him.  I wish more Electro today was like this.

For those who wants to drop some Tronage in their sets.  Great Electro House remix, BIG.

Some old school Japeneese Techno (aka J Tek).  This is for the history buffs out there like myself.  It's cool to see where we came from.

And why not see where Techno has ended up?  Minimal, dark, amazing.

Drum N Bass?  You don't say...

Commercial build, Dutch drop.  But it doesn't feel as random as an Afrojack drop.

Sick Electro track.

Some Big Room House, on the Tech side.

MOAR DUBSTEP!

Obscure Video Game Character #12

You know his face, but do you know his name?  +250 Bastille Love and Admiration Points for the first to put it in the comments.  I'm in a rush, so descriptions will be lacking, sorry.

-M

Sweet Shop (Friction Vs Camo & Krooked Remix) - Doctor P (Golden Banana)
Drum & Bass remix of everyone's favorite Dubstep track.

Burning Love (Mightyfools Remix) - Critical Mass
Electro House

Ba Bada (2 Bit Thugs Bootleg) - Jackinori
Fidget House.  Cheers to Crustacean Cognition for this one!

Closer Now (Original Club Mix) - Dataworx
Techno

Bangers (La Musique D'Ordinateur Remix) - Super Pixel
Electro

Sex Instructions Dub - Borgore
Dubstep

'Love No Pride' (Eddie Thoneick Thrills n Skills Mix) - Dohr & Mangold
Tech House

Paperangel (Original Mix) - Dinka
Ultra Progressive House, just like every other track from this dude.  Beach/sleep music.

22 November 2010

Obscure Video Game Character #11

Name the furry lil furry fella on the left and earn yourself a modest +400 Bastille Love and Admiration points.  Let's do music time.

-M

Love Goes Down (Doctor P Remix) - Plan B (GOLDEN BANANA)
So I guess when Drum & Bass sounds like Dubstep, it's called Drumstep.  Easy enough.  Here's an example, and it is good.

Big Boss - Doctor P
And another.  MASSIVE Dubstep track.

Beef Jerky - Dirtee Bronson
Found this on soundcloud, dude has like 10 followers.  Really catchy, relaxed House with a reggae feel, unique.  It's certainly nice to hear something new.  This could have almost been on the Snatch soundtrack, for those of you who've seen that.  Give this dude a peep by clicking HERE.

And now that those are out of the way, Techno time:

Eazy (Original Mix) - Andrea Bertolini (Silver Banana)
Techno is so cooooooooool i cun barely contain meself.

Late Night (Original Mix) - Adam K & Addy
Get down.   Booop bop booop.

Wrong Exit (Lutzenkirchen Remix) - Alexander Maier, Marius Lehnert
Ticky tacky ticky tacky

Pretty Lu (Original Mix) - Andrea Bertolini
Kinda Progressive Techno

La Bonita (Austin's Zombie Remix) - Austin Leeds
Tech House with a fun tribal chant/feel

21 November 2010

Obscure Video Game Character #10

Two characters this time, but if you know one of them, pretty solid chance you know both.  They're brothers, after all.  HINT:  They love pizza.  +300 Bastille Love and Admiration Points to the first correct answer in the comments.  This is a particularly Housey post.

-M

Fan Out - Surkin (GOLDEN BANANA)
It's been a while, but this track rules.  Very different for him too.  House, slower tempo, funky as hell.  Also, first time this blog has posted a track by him.  Strange...

You Needed Me (Fred Falke Remix) - The Playin' Stars feat. Romanthony
The vocals are super cheese, sure, but it is House music after all, right?  Anyways, this is that classic Falke sound that we love.

Squeek (Bart B More Remix) - Zombie Nation (Silver Banana)
Some Electro Techno, and massive track.  I can see this being played out by so many DJs on big stages.

Marsch Marsch (Original Club Mix) - Thomas Gold
Great intro track, used this to start off my gig at FLUX two nights ago (shit was crazy, big thanks to the readers that made it out).  Progressive House.  Toolroom Records has been killing it recently.

Show You A Life (Adam K Remix) - A-Luv ft Tamara
Tech House, groooooooooooovy

Brrrat! (His Majesty Andre Remix) - Armand Van Helden / Steve Aoki
Haven't heard from this dude in a while, nice to see that his still makin some banging House.

Don't Hold Back (Out Of Office Remix) - The Potbelleez
Big Room Electro House.  Commercial stuff.  But like, this would DESTROY a Big Room, it's just not for the 'that shit is gay' readers.  You know who you are, and I say fuck the haters.

ALSO

Hypnotize U (Prod. by Daft Punk) - N.E.R.D.
Not sure how I missed this one, probably during the period when I was ignoring all things music and instead producing / playing mad Fifa.  Don't get too excited though, this is not exactly the Daft Punk sound you're yearning for, but they made it.

19 November 2010

New Bastille Remix

If you've been reading us for a bit, you might remember our interview with Sssen we did a few months back.  Anyways, they've since changed their name to Night Eyes, and we've remixed one of their tracks, which I'm gonna post up here for you.  Hopefully they'll let me put their EP up soon (it's sick as hell), but they're making me wait for a music video to go with it.  Anyways, until then, you can check out our remix.

Stray Light (Bastille Remix) - Night Eyes - Free Download by Bastille

Also, anyone who's in the Massachusetts area should come out to FLUX tonight, I'll be headlining and definitely dropping some new tracks, like this one.

18 November 2010

Scratcha DVA

London's Leon Smart, better known as 'Scratcha' DVA (sometimes known as Soule:Power), is definitely up there for the title king of funky, and is one of my favorite dj/producers out there at the moment. A longtime grime producer, and Rinse.fm resident dj, showcasing the best new UK Garage, Grime, Funky, & Dubstep every morning 5 days a week, has been tearing up 2010 with his own Funky productions, which he's been releasing through his own label along with tracks by some fellow Funky artists. He's also seen releases on Kode9's hyperdub label, his music can be described wonky, playful, percussion heavy tunes, with fluid organic jungle sounds and liquidy synths, unabashedly fun, sexy, club-house, heres a good sampler of his tracks i've gotten together, enjoy!

-high life vibes, warming it up a little

Obscure Video Game Character #9

So this round is a bit different, since it's not a character, but rather a highly obscure and controversial game.  Name it in the comments and earn yourself a whopping +1000 Bastille Love and Admiration Points.

-M

Body Jack (Original Mix) - Geht's Noch?
Reminds me of old Crookers sort of.

Hope (Djedjotronic Remix) - Etienne De Crecy
What up Techno.  Definitely loving the resurgence of Techno right now.

Binary (Supabeatz & Jay Robinson Remix) - Etienne De Crecy
So let's post some more of it, shall we?  This one's Electro Techno.  Also sort of reminds me of Owl Vision if you guys know that sound.  If you're in the mood for more genre discussion, Daftwho calls it Death Electro, but that just makes me want to shoot someone.  By the end of this post, I shall coin a new genre as well.

Flashing Lights (Original Mix) - Daniel Portman, Jerome Isma-Ae
And on the complete opposite side of the Techno spectrum, this here's some epic Tech Trance.

Drifter - Brookes Brothers And Furlonge
Pretty Drum & Bass, but it's still got a heavy bass.  Just not one of those face melter tracks.

Blue Steel (Still Going Remix) - Bot'Ox
Nu Disco?  This is that DFA sound.  Anybody want to tell me what I should call this genre?  I could make one up...

The Mexican (Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP Remix) - Deekline & Tim Healey feat. Babe Ruth
House muzics.  The best part is the organ drop halfway through.

So Vexed - Funtcase
A friend told me not to post Dubstep anymore, since the last thing the world needs is more fucking Dubstep.  Well, here's some Dubstep, it's not dead yet.  We'll know it is for sure when blogs start calling tracks Deadstep.

15 November 2010

Right This Second

I posted a video of this a few days ago.  It came out today.

-M

Right This Second - Deadmau5 (Golden Banana)
It's like a progressive take on FML, and it is good.  This is meant to fill a stadium.  I'm really a fan of what I've heard coming form the next album, I think it should blow his last out of the water, or at least release Cthulu from dimensional prison.

The 16th Hour - Deadmau5 (Golden Banana)
My personal favorite track form the last album.  This is a 320, unmixed.

14 November 2010

Gunther

So I closed out the Risky Fresh Eurotrash party last night.  It was unbelievable.  I'm also going to be headlining at FLUX | A MASS EDMC EVENT next Friday, so if you're in the Massachusetts area you should come out.  The promoters interviewed me, so if you're interested you can check that out HERE.  My head hurts a lot after that blue Four Loko I crushed last night, so track descriptions will probably be lacking, but here's your Sunday dose.

-M

The Island - Pendulum (GOLDEN BANANA)
I dropped this last night.  9 mins track.  Cheesy first half, NUTS second half.  This track is really incredible, and was so perfect for Eurotrash.

Lesbian Bondage Fiasco (Original Mix) - Aniki (Silver Banana)
AMAZING chopped Disco House.  He definitely tried to pull a Barbara Streisand though.

Bit This Thin (Tony Senghore Remix) - Djedjotronic
Electro Techno.  I love it.

Bit This Thin (Original Mix) - Djedjotronic
And the original.  Techno.

Sanity (Adam K & Soha Vocal Club Mix) - Adam K & Soha Ft. Hannah
Progressive Dutch House?

KMA - Autoerotique & SonicC
Dutch House.

Here He Goes (Original Mix) - Dusty Kid & Grooviera
Tech House.

Feel The Love (Sunloverz Remix) - Aboutblank & KLC
House, classic feel.  I wouldn't play it, but I can see that someone definitely would.

13 November 2010

Loko For Four Loko

I've got one of these Blue Raspberry monstrosities in my fridge for tonight, along with some Beast Premium.  DJing a Eurotrash Themed party along with other Risky Fresh DJs.  The parties at this venue have a reputation for people fucking in the room.  I'm glad I can facilitate something so beautiful.  COLLEGE WOOO!

-M

Fuck You (Le Castle Vania Remix) - Cee Lo Green (Golden Banana)
Disco House remix of everyone's favorite song right now.  HUGE crowd pleaser.

Beating Hearts (Louis La Roche Remix) - Ocelot (Silver Banana)
Incredible fucking remix.  Electro bass, but it's still got his signature Disco/Funk style.

Harmageddon (Felix Cartal Remix) - Green Velvet
BIIIIIIG Electro House track.  It's actually pretty techy for him.

Lost My Mind - Vaski
WUH WUH WUH WUH WUHWUHW WAAAAAAAAAH!

Percolator (Dada Life Guerilla Fart #11) - Cajmere
Tech House

Something Good Can Work (BeatauCue Remix) - Two Door Cinema Club
Dutch/Tech House, but the kind where it's a voice instead of a synth doing the high line.

Rockstr (Saint Pauli Remix) - ULTRNX
Some old style Electro, reminds me of the good ol days.

Tumble Dryer - Fazhands
Techno!

12 November 2010

The Essential Mix

Yup.  He finally released an Essential Mix.  The second coming of Christ.  Rejoice!

Wolfgang Gartner's Essential Mix

And how about a preview of a track from Jesus' upcoming album.  It's like a progressive take on FML:

And this track. I haven't seen him live in a while, but if you've seen him recently, you probably heard this MASSIVE track:

I guess this post would be incomplete without including God. So here's a preview of a track from the Tron Soundtrack, click HERE!

11 November 2010

Detective Dale Cooper

He is the man.  If you don't know him, you should.

-M

Rave 'N' Roll (Original Mix) - Steve Angello
HUGE track, massive drop.  Tech House?

Take Me High - Dillon Francis
Big Dubstep track that got blogged a shit ton.  I think he's from Los Angeles, w00t.

D.T.M. - TEAM BANZAI
Heavy Electro track, unique.  Got introduced to these guys from Ilictronix.

Homeless (Canblaster Remix) - Style Of Eye & Slagsmålsklubben
Awesome French Tech House.

Miami 2 Ibiza (Sander van Doorn Remix) - Swedish House Mafia vs. Tinie Tempah (Removed)
Techy techy techy.

Mixtape (Umek Remix) - Sebastien Leger
Tech House, which is odd for him since he usually just makes straight Tech.  If you're confused between the difference between Tech House and Techno, compare this to his other tracks.

The Light - Ninetynine
More of that Daftwho? style Electro.  Listening to this makes strobes go off in my mind.

Hello (Bass Kleph Remix) - The Potbelleez
Tech House.

10 November 2010

Longshoreman

I'd trust him with my package.

-M

I'm Not Over (Adam K & Soha Remix) - Carolina Liar (Golden Banana)
Progressive House with an Electro bass.  As always, top notch production.

Diamond Life (Daddy's Groove Magic Island Rework) - Louie Vega, Jay 'Sinister' Sealee, Julie McKnight (Silver Banana)
Another one of my favorite Progressive House producers.  They kill it every time.

Love Won't Wait (Original Vocal Mix) - Ian Carey Project
Pop appeal to the max.  Commercial Electro House.

Runaway (Original Mix) - Mason
Sounds a lot like I Think I Like It by Fake Blood.  Disco House-y.

I Want You (Bar9 Remix) - Paul Harris Vs. Eurythmics
Fuck Yeah Dubstep!

Rubb It In (Bart B More Fierce Ruling Remix) - Fierce Ruling Diva
Some old school vibes in this House track.

Fires of Hell (feat. Bloody Dan) - Nostalgia
Interesting name for a Dubstep producer, you'd think he would make Chill Wave or some shit.  But he does the evil sound very well.  This song also speeds up to DnB at the end, added bonus for sure.

Let's Get Ferretic (Original Mix) - Mason
Electro House, bouncey.

09 November 2010

Obscure Video Game Character #8

And it's back.  Name this evil ass sucker and you'll receive +500 Bastille Love and Admiration Points.  I'll award 150 points if you can only name the game.  Lessgo.

-M

Get On The Move (Original Mix) - Bingo Players (Golden Banana)
Hell yes.  And I quote my friend (he's not the biggest fan of Tech House)
"I didn't know a calm banger was possible"

Fountain Of Youth (Louis La Roche 'In The Discoteque' Remix) - Boy Crisis
Everyone's favorite French House revival producer is back.

Shake Shake (Original Mix) - S.co
It's kinda like Big Room Disco/Electro/Prog House.  What up Los Angeles.  This dude runs a sick blog worth checking out called 310Electro.

Transformers (Ooga Booga Remix) - Futurecop!
Starts Synth Poppy, then drops super hard with heavy Electro.  Great way to pick up energy in a set.

Generate Some Heat (Original Mix) - Foamo
Glad to see his back.  Some Fidget/Disco greatness.

Face Pump (Blende Remix) - JFK, St. Mandrew
Electro for you kids out there.

Close To The Stars (Jerome Isma-Ae Dub Mix) - Fabio XB feat Yves de Lacroix
Prog House or Trance?  It's pretty up for debate.  All I know is that this dude always puts out top notch production.

Road To Perdition (Original Mix) - Dinka
And some super smooth Progressive House to end.  The kind to sleep to, not to play live.

08 November 2010

Porter Robinson

Dear readers, a very important moment is at hand.  It seems that a new producer has appeared and looks as though he might be worthy of the extremely esteemed AwB religious status.  Daft Punk is God, Deadmau5 is Jesus, and Wolfgang Garter is the motherfucking Second Coming goddamit.  So what's next?  The Holy Ghost?  Is this him?  It's still too early to decide, he needs more tracks.  He looks like he COULD be Jewish, so maybe we'll call him Moses.  Anyways, the dude is that good.

-M

Less Go! (Porter Robinson Remix) - Spencer & Hill feat Lil Jon (Golden Banana)
I can totally hear Myles Dyson influence in this one, but he puts even more detail into it.  The second drop will also make you shit your pants since it's got the brown noise.

Seek Bromance (Porter Robinsom Remix) - Tim Berg feat Amanda Wilson (Golden Banana)
As if the original wasn't good enough.  Now you can play it while also blowing some speakers.

Say My Name (Original Mix) - Porter Robinson (Golden Banana)
The first track of his I heard.  This was when I knew.

Porter Robinson Collection (90 MB)

Wherever We Are, Human Life Is There Too

I like to think that Human Life is looking into the future in this picture.  You might remember this epic group from when we interviewed them about a year ago (check that out HERE), but they've got some new exciting stuff that we're proud to promote.  They've just released a brand new EP that you can BUY HERE.  The release is packed full of awesome remixers, including the blogosphere hero Grum.  Anyways, let's get to the awesome tracks:

Wherever We Are - Original Mix by Human Life

Extremely catchy track, I really can't get the voice out of my head. Incredibly smooth, crisp production, you can tell they spent a lot of time on this one.

Wherever We Are - Nightriders Remix by Human Life

A slightly calmer remix that I'm happy to say they're offering as a free download from Soundcloud.

Italo Crimewave - Original Mix by Human Life

And here's the B Side, which they're also offering as a download.

Also, check out this awesome video for the title track. If there's anything I love more than Nu-Disco, it's beautiful Lesbian Romance. And this video's got both, what a treat.

WOW

Obscure Video Game Character #7

I'm going to assume that nobody is going to get #6, so the answer was Detective Carla Valenti from the game Indigo Prophecy.  It was a great idea for a game, but poorly executed.  Anyways, bad ass #7 is right up thur, and I'm offering +500 Bastille Love and Admiration Points for the first to the punch.

-M

I Look To You (ft Kimbra) - Miami Horror (GOLDEN BANANA)
This is exactly what we need to bring back French House.  Its just like the best disco, pop, whatever that you've ever heard.  The bassline is killer.

Baby I'm Yours feat. IRFANE - Breakbot (Golden Banana)
Yup, another one.  I figured I had to include the other great jam of recent.  Which of these is better?

Baby I'm Yours (Aeroplane Remix) - Breakbot
Good remix.

Smack My Bitch Up (Sub Focus Remix) - The Prodigy (Silver Banana)
And now for something completely different.  DnB ftw.

Prince (Bassnectar Remix) - Deftones
Or maybe Dubstep ftw?

U Don't Like Me (South Rakkas Crew Remix) - Diplo & Lil Jon
Not sure if you'd call this Dubstep, but its the right tempo and would fit into a Dubstep set.

Love You Better (Bass Kleph Remix) - Crazy White Boy
This is AwB.  There's gotta be something techy in every post.  So why not this awesome Tech House jam.

No Soul (Bodybangers Remix) - Andrew Spencer & Daniel Slam
And some Dutch House to finish off.
